Canary Concussion Privacy Policy

Posted: 2 November 2017

Welcome to Canary Concussion! Safekeeping of your data is critical to us and a responsibility that we embrace. Here we describe how we collect, use and handle your information when you use our websites, mobile applications, software and/or services ("Service").

We collect and use the following information to provide, improve and protect our Service:

Account. We collect, and associate with your account, information such as your name, email address, phone number, and payment information (for individual premium accounts).

Service. When you use our Service, we store, process and transmit your files (including audio recordings, files, comments, other content, and so on) and information related to them. This will make it easy for you to do things like share and interact with these items.

Usage. In order to improve the Service, we collect information from and about the devices you use to access the Service. This includes things like IP addresses, the type of browser and device you use, the web page you visited before coming to our sites, how you interact with the Service, and identifiers associated with your devices. Your devices (depending on their settings) may also transmit location information to the Service.

Cookies and other technologies. We use technologies like cookies and pixel tags to provide, improve, protect and promote our Service. For example, cookies and other technologies help us with things like maintaining a logged in session and preferences for your next visit, understanding how you interact with our Service including things like clicks, mouse actions, text entered and other related information, and then improving the Service based on that information. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Service.

We may share information as discussed below in order to facilitate delivering the Service to you, but will never sell it to advertisers or other third-parties.

Others working for Canary Concussion. Canary Concussion uses only certain trusted third parties to help us provide, improve, protect, and promote our Service. These third parties will access your information, but only to perform tasks on our behalf and in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

Other users. Our Service displays information like your name or email address to other users only in places where that information is configured to be shared.

Canary Concussion Institutional Accounts. If your account is associated with a Canary Concussion Institution customer, there may be an administrator that has access to and control of your Canary Concussion account for purposes of managing the Service. Please refer to your organization’s internal policies if you have questions about this.

Legal. We may disclose your information to third parties if we determine that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) comply with the law; (b) protect any person from death or serious bodily injury; (c) prevent fraud or abuse of Canary Concussion or our users; or (d) protect Canary Concussion’s property rights. Please contact support@canaryconcussion.com with any privacy questions or concerns.

Security. We employ an internal technical team in order to keep your information secure and test for vulnerabilities. We also continue to work on features to keep your information safe.

Research. We may collect and de-identify personal information to help us create, develop, operate, deliver, and improve our products, models, platforms, services, content, and to conduct medical research. We may also use personal information for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve Canary Speech's products, services, and customer communications.

Around the world. To provide you with the Service, we may store, process and transmit information in the United States and locations around the world - including those outside your country. Information may also be stored locally on the devices you use to access the Service.

EU Provisions. With the transition from the EU-US Safe Harbor to the new Privacy Shield framework, Canary Concussion is in the process of certifying under the new guidelines. In the meantime, Canary Concussion offers standard EU model clauses for information security as required for EU customers.

Canary Concussion collects certain indirect or aggregate information as a result of your use of the Service.  Such information will always be anonymized and will never contain user-identifiable data such as name, email address, or other direct identifiers.

If we are involved in a reorganization, merger, acquisition or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you (for example, via a message to the email address associated with your account) of any such transaction and outline your choices in that event.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time, and will post the most current version on our website. If a revision meaningfully reduces your rights, we will notify you.
